TECH TIP: Batteries
Modern camera batteries no longer have memory problems. Older batteries which
were repeatedly recharged after being only partially discharged seemed
to "remember" the smaller capacity.
But batteries don't last for ever. Label your batteries with the date of
purchase, your address and a sequential number. (Avery return address label
5267 is a good size.) Always use the battery base protectors to prevent the
risk of a short.
If you have to store batteries for a period store them discharged in a cool
dry place. (Never discharge a battery by shorting its terminals with
some wire. That makes them heat up, damage themselves and can even cause
an explosion. Buy a battery discharger: in mid December 2009
