Danube River of Europe Film Festival
Ruse, Bulgaria
Closing date: ?end April 2011
Festival dates: ? late June 2011
Fee: none / no limit on length
similar arrangements every second year
Set in Ruse (aka Rousse), Bulgaria - a town on the River Danube. The theme
is SENSE OF A RIVER. Humans have five senses - we see, hear, feel, taste,
smell. There is one more very important sense - the sixth sense, which is
often doubted. It is called intuition. While watching a movie we can see
and hear. But can we smell the scent of the flowers on the river bank or
taste the fish? Or do we sense the gentle touch of the waves? In that way
you can feel the river even in the desert. It's just a matter of your creativity
- try it!
There is no length limit or genre restriction. Entries on miniDV or DVD (one
film per cassette or disc). All the titles and subtitles have to be in Bulgarian,
German or English. If your entry is received by the deadline one of the makers
can have accommodation and food free of charge. (Fly to Bucharest in Romania
- it is a 30Km run by bus/taxi from there over the border bridge to Rousse.)
Events include a Danube cruise, workshops and discussions.
No entry fee or even forms. Write or email your intention to enter include
information about: the name, length and type of digital carrier of the film,
name and address of the author and if s/he will come to Bulgaria. The friendly
festival team organise good English translators from local schools/ colleges.
