Selected Overseas Festivals - if you can go it is a great chance to meet fellow film makers and socialise with enthusiasts. There may be local sight-seeing and other entertainments too. We list those which welcome genuine non-commercial / amateur movies.

Warning: There are thousands of festivals which claim to welcome amateur / non-commercial films. Many really want movies by indies and people on the edge of the commercial film world. Look out for very high entry fees and acceptable formats which include broadcast formats.  Such festivals will take your fee give you nothing. No feedback, no critique, no screening, nada. Search the web for comments on each festival.

On the positive side: good festivals - especially regional or local ones - may give you some feedback, bolster your enthusiasm, introduce you to contacts who can help you in future. Read about a very good example in Susan Sybenga's article.
